What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is an excellent tool for exfoliation of the face by using a medical-grade scalpel to remove dead skin cells and it reduces the vellus hair (peach fuzz) on the face and to give deeper exfoliation for better product absorption, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and smoothing the texture of the skin.
Who’s a good candidate for Dermaplaning?
All skin types except really thin crepey aged skin or active acneic skin. Does the hair grow back thicker after you have shaved it?
No, this is a myth. It is not possible for hair to grow back thicker after you have shaved it. Is it just like shaving your face at home?
The difference is in the blade, it’s a smaller one and should be carefully done by a professional to effectively slough off all of those dead skin cells.
How often should I get Dermaplaning?
It is recommended about every 3-4 weeks. Our esthetician will also usually recommend it before a laser hair removal procedure if you have any coarser hair and need to have it shaved before a treatment anyway. It can even be added on as an extra before a chemical peel to help the peel get more penetration into the deeper layers of the skin.
The Top Benefits of Dermaplaning are:
-It is a gentle pain-free way to smooth out texture of the skin
-It will give you a luminous glow, a great thing to do before a special event
-It can be done alone for exfoliation or before a laser hair removal treatment to ensure a close shave of the skin so the laser energy is properly absorbed into the hair follicle
-Can also be added on before a Vi Chemical peel to get better product absorption.
